I am a fully qualified Nutritional Therapist, holding a Diploma from the College of Naturopathic Medicine (CNM) in London. I am fully insured and a member of the British Association for Applied Nutrition and Nutritional Therapy (BANT) as well as the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC).
I have always had a keen interest and passion for food and how it relates to our health. When travelling across Mongolia in 2009 I became interested in their traditional diet and seemingly robust health and strong, straight teeth. I subsequently became aware of the work of Dr. Weston A. Price. A dentist who made the link between a nutrient dense diet and these aforementioned attributes. After much reading, I wanted to broaden and deepen my knowledge of nutrition, so in 2010 I began my 3-year Diploma at the CNM. The course encompassed my desire for a more holistic and naturopathic approach to nutrition whilst remaining scientific and evidence based.
Going through the pregnancy and birth of my first child whilst studying, I became very interested in how to optimally prepare the body for conception, nutrition throughout pregnancy and breastfeeding, and then subsequently weaning a baby onto solids. This naturally became an area of specialism for me, and driven by a passion for the importance of infant nutrition and a desire to share my knowledge, I now lead talks on a more traditional approach to weaning using nutrient dense foods.
My approach when working with a client is extremely thorough and in order to accurately assess your health and gain a full picture, I will ask in-depth questions relating to all the body systems, with further focus on the issue you are presenting with.
I strongly believe in working with the individual to establish the root cause of any health issues, rather than merely masking symptoms. When working with you, my aim is to enable and empower you to make positive choices about your diet and lifestyle.
Nutritional therapy can be used when working with any health issue (alongside appropriate medical intervention where necessary) and when working preventatively to achieve optimum health. Some areas I have had significant success in when working with clients, include, but are not limited to:
- Pre-conception & pregnancy care
- Frequent Infections
- Hormonal Imbalances (PMT, Menopausal symptoms)
- Mood swings
- Chronic Fatigue
- Candida (Thrush)
- Allergies (Including food, Hayfever, dust etc.)
- Irritable Bowel Syndrome & gastrointestinal issues (constipation, diarrhoea)
- Frequent headaches/Migraines
- Baby Weaning
- Dry skin, Eczema, psoriasis
The field of Nutritional Therapy is cutting edge and constantly evolving. To ensure I offer my clients the most up-date and evidence based, professional advice and guidance, I ensure that I stay abreast of the latest research by attending additional training, relevant seminars and conferences.
When working with a therapist of any discipline, therapist-client rapport is of great importance. I pride myself on my excellent interpersonal skills and my ability to work with all people in a non-judgmental and compassionate manner. I strongly believe that with the appropriate advice and guidance from me, you have the ability to take control of your own health.
